FLOWER STUDIES
This is an ongoing series of Flora Still Life's inspired by the flower photography of Robert Mapplethorpe. In 2014 I was approached by West Dunbartonshire Arts and Culture to deliver several flower photography workshops in conjunction with the ‘Tate Artists Rooms Robert Mapplethorpe’ exhibition that was taking place at Clydebank Art Gallery and Museum. The workshops centered on using mobile devices to capture the photographs and to utilise creative post processing techniques to create a finished printed artwork. The workshops proved so popular that the run was extended.
The Seed Pod work was a runner up in the 2016 Mobile Digital Art and Creativity Summit in Palo Alto California. The Pin Cushion flower was shortlisted for The Lords Provosts Award For Outstanding Artwork when it was included in the 2015/16 Clydeside Open exhibition at Clydebank Art Gallery and Museum.
